Tap the map, switch Pin / Walk / Car, search a place, load a saved preset, then start simulation. This is the real LocoLarp layout — not a screenshot.

LocoLarp uses Android mock location APIs. It does not hide the mock flag. Some apps can detect simulated locations.

Privacy is central to the product. We simulate GPS for development and QA — without root, stealth, or a hidden flag.

01

GPS Simulation

Feed a test location to Android through official mock location APIs. No root, no hardware spoofing.

02

Interactive Map

Pan a dark cartographic map, drop a pin, and read coordinates before you start a simulation.

03

Location Search

Look up a place name or paste coordinates. Search may use the device geocoder and Nominatim.

04

Saved Presets

Keep pins, walks, and drives on the device. Load one onto the map, check the path, then start.

05

Movement Simulation

Walk or drive along OpenStreetMap roads. The mock pin follows the street path at a typical or custom speed.

06

Privacy First

Saved places and history stay on-device. We do not claim zero tracking: map tiles and search use network services.

07

Developer Tools

Built for development, QA, and location-based app testing with a clear simulation status.

08

Offline Local Storage

Pins persist locally on the phone. You can keep working with saved places even if search is unavailable.

How it works

Three steps on the phone.

If you can tap through Android settings, you can run a simulation.

  1. 01

    Install

Download the APK, buy a key, and paste it in Settings → License. Start stays locked without a key.

  2. 02

    Enable Android Mock Location

Turn on Developer Options and set LocoLarp as the mock location app. Menus differ by manufacturer.

  3. 03

    Choose a location

Search, tap the map, draw a walk or drive, or load a saved preset. Check it on the map, then start simulation.

Need the menus? See Android setup.

iPhone

Three steps on Windows.

No IPA. Plug the phone into LocoLarp Desktop over USB.

  1. 01

    Install Desktop

Download the Windows installer. Same license key as Android. Start stays locked without a key.

  2. 02

    Trust the iPhone

Install Apple Devices, plug in a USB data cable, tap Trust, and turn on Developer Mode.

  3. 03

    Start on the map

Paste the key in Session → Settings, drop a pin, then Start. One click pairs, tunnels, and holds the test location.

Walk through it in the setup wizard or the iPhone from Windows guide.

Interface

The map, the search, the saved presets.

This is the LocoLarp UI. Tap it like the phone — Pin, Walk, Car, search, and load a preset before you start.

  1. 01 · Pin

Tap the map to drop a pin. Start simulation when it looks right.

  2. 02 · Walk / Car

Switch mode, tap two or more stops, then start a road walk or drive.

  3. 03 · Search & saved

Search a city, or open Saved and load a pin, walk, or drive onto the map.

Use cases

Built for people who need a known coordinate.

LocoLarp is for testing and privacy experiments on your own device.

Privacy Testing

See how an app behaves when location is a known test coordinate instead of your real position.

App Development

Exercise location permission flows and map screens without leaving your desk.

QA Testing

Replay the same pin for checklists, screenshots, and regression passes.

Location-Based App Testing

Check geofences, nearby search, and region-specific content with a controlled coordinate.

Travel Simulation

Preview how an app renders another city. This is a test location, not a hidden GPS spoof.

Developer Experiments

Try a walk or drive along mapped roads while you inspect logs and callbacks.

Privacy philosophy

On-device pins. Honest about the network.

We do not claim zero tracking. We tell you what stays on the phone and what may leave it.

Saved on the phone

Saved presets and history stay on-device. There is no LocoLarp account for pins, walks, or drives.

Map tiles

Map tiles come from CARTO/OpenStreetMap. Loading a map uses those tile services.

Search

Search may use the device geocoder and Nominatim. Coordinate-only pins do not need a search query.

FAQ

Straight answers.

If an app can detect mock locations, we say so.

How do I buy a key?

Open the buy page, pick a plan, and pay with a card through Stripe. Week and month auto-renew until you cancel. Day pass and lifetime are one-time. After payment the site shows the license key. Paste it in Android Settings → License or Desktop Session → Settings.

How do I get help or send an idea?

In the app open Support. Tickets do not need a name or email. Staff can reply from the website, Discord, or Telegram, and you see it in the same thread. There is also a Discord community for Android setup and chat.

How long does a license last?

Buy on the website with Stripe. A day pass lasts 24 hours and does not renew. Week and month auto-renew until you cancel. Lifetime has no end date. Paste the key in Android Settings → License or Desktop Session → Settings. The apps refresh a subscription key when Stripe bills the next period.

Does this require root?

No. LocoLarp uses Android’s official mock location APIs. You enable Developer Options and choose LocoLarp as the mock location app. Root is not required and is not part of the product.

How does Android mock location work?

Android includes a developer feature that lets one app supply test locations. After you select LocoLarp as the mock location app, it registers a test provider through LocationManager. Apps that read standard Android location APIs can receive that simulated position.

Does it change real GPS hardware?

No. LocoLarp does not reprogram the GPS chip or intercept satellite signals. It feeds a test location into Android’s location framework.

Will every app see or detect it?

Compatible apps that use Android location APIs will typically see the test location while simulation is running. Some apps check isMock, Play Integrity, or their own heuristics and may reject it. LocoLarp does not hide the mock flag, and we do not claim stealth or anti-detect behavior.

Does it work on every phone?

It needs Developer Options, which most Android 8.0+ devices can enable. Manufacturer skins (Samsung, Xiaomi, Pixel, OnePlus, and others) place the setting in slightly different menus. Work profiles, fully managed devices, and some MDM policies can block mock locations.

How do I disable it?

Tap Stop Simulation in LocoLarp, or open Developer Options and deselect LocoLarp as the mock location app. Apps then return to the device’s real location providers.

Is there an iPhone version?

There is no iPhone App Store app or IPA. A third-party iPhone app cannot become the system GPS source. For iPhone, install LocoLarp Desktop on Windows, plug the phone in over USB, enable Developer Mode, and simulate location through Apple’s developer channel (same family as Xcode Simulate Location). Reboot restores real GPS. Some apps can detect a simulated location.

Is LocoLarp on Google Play?

Not at this time. Install from the Android APK area on this site when a build is published, or build the app from this repository. A Play link will appear here if a listing is published later.

Does LocoLarp track me?

Saved locations and history stay on-device. Map tiles come from CARTO/OpenStreetMap. Search may use the device geocoder and Nominatim. We do not claim zero tracking.
