LocoLarp

Troubleshooting

Work through this list from the top. Most problems are a missing mock location selection or an app that refuses mock flags.

Start Simulation does nothing

  1. Confirm LocoLarp is selected under Select mock location app. See Android setup.
  2. Turn Location on in Quick Settings.
  3. Force-stop LocoLarp, open it again, and retry.
  4. Reboot once after first enabling Developer Options — some OEMs need that.

Other apps still show the real place

  1. Make sure the status in LocoLarp says Simulation On.
  2. Fully close the other app (swipe it away) and open it again so it requests a fresh location.
  3. If the other app still shows home, it may be detecting mock locations or using its own location source. LocoLarp cannot hide that.

I cannot find Developer Options

  • Search Settings for “developer” or “mock location”.
  • On Samsung look under About phone → Software information for Build number.
  • A work profile or fully managed device may hide the menu. Use a personal device.

The map is blank

Map tiles come from CARTO/OpenStreetMap, so they need a network. Saved pins still work offline. You can paste coordinates without the map imagery.

Search has no results

Search may use the device geocoder and Nominatim. Check connectivity, or skip search and tap the map / paste numbers.

Windows Desktop cannot see the iPhone

  1. Use a USB data cable, not charge-only, in a port on the PC (not a hub).
  2. Install Apple Devices and open it once.
  3. Unlock the iPhone, tap Trust This Computer, and keep the screen on.
  4. iOS 16+: Settings → Privacy & Security → Developer Mode. Desktop can also send Turn on Dev Mode after the phone is listed.
  5. Close other iPhone USB tools. Then press Start again, or walk through the setup wizard.

How to disable everything

  1. Tap Stop Simulation in LocoLarp.
  2. Open Developer Options and deselect the mock location app (set it to nothing).
  3. Optional: turn Developer Options off.
